So, I've decided I actually REALLY like this idea of total sobriety. And within hours of that decision, I received a text from a now sober someone who said years ago our meeting was destiny.
Maybe so. After all I am a major reason for the chain of events that led to his decision to be sober. He's the very LAST person I ever expected to go sober. When he texted I told him I'm a week sober and his response was:
Congratulations, you can do it.
If I can help you with something let me know.
If you need a sober friend.
If you want to hang out sometimes...
Of course I said yes! Not drinking can be particularly isolating, so this is a most welcome proposal. So now we are tea buddies! I like this.
I always felt we were twin souls. Oddly aligned. Actually I recall discovering that his astrological chart was nearly identical to mine -- as in every planet in the same sign. I remember asking my friend if that was common. No, she said. In all the charts she had done (and she had done many), that never happened before. Not exactly scientific, but just one of many "coincidences" that do at times seem fated. He did, in fact, save my life once. At that time I thought maybe that was the only reason I met him. But, here we cross paths again, with a shared goal, again with synchronized timing. We even look alike in my opinion, but we've never admitted that out loud.
And actually, a dream he told me ended up coming true on the day I left him. We both have dreams that happen. We both share the superpower of intuition. I dreamed of his return too...
When I was 16 I was very into witchcraft. (His friends call him a witch.) Anyway, when I was 16 I remember doing some elaborate numerology from some old library book that said part of my destiny in this life was to help a twin soul in danger of becoming a fallen angel or something along those lines. In the back of my mind I've always thought of him as that person. But, as twin souls, I think we've both been in danger, and have both helped each other through major life changes, and still are...
You know those lovers that you associate with many many songs? He doesn't know it, but all of those songs are about him. The ones I still belt out when I'm driving. They are all about him, and no one has ever known.
