I spent my weekend in the Haight drinking white russians while making collaborative art with my new friends. We discussed our outrage at the government over homemade pitas and pesto and black tea and discussed ways in which art can serve as a powerful tool of education and protest. Then the six of us crammed ourselves into a compact car and met some more new friends who poured us a few too many cosmopolitans and kept us laughing all night long. I like them. I love my city. I love pitas and black tea and art and other women who just "get it." I love having impromptu disco sessions in elevators. I love taking pictures of fruit in supermarkets. I love trading clothes. It's amazing how it only takes a few good people to change your outlook on life and make you fall in love with the world all over again.
