Who knew that life was good,
Who knew that love was strong,
Who knew that black was white, and right sometimes wrong.
Who knew the power of the hand that offers love;
the fist that strangles joy, lawd, it can destroy.
I walked so many miles,
I memorized the view,
All wrong conclusions true, who knew.
Who knew the way around
was the way back to town.
The one way out, its true, was the way through.
- Matt Keating
Who knew my life in 2007 could be summed up in a country song? At least I seem to find myself in the end.
Actually the guy who sings it lives in *cough* New York *cough*. It's alright Matt, I'm a fake cowboy too. Even if I was a country girl once in distant childhood memories...
Speaking of which, I brought back a bushel of apples from my parents' yard this weekend. Their little town may not have much in the cosmopolitan sense, but thems are the best darn apples I've had in a long while.
So, as my Chanukah gift to you, I propose you enjoy the mp3, take a bite of a crisp organic granny smith, and reflect on renewed potential* and the many beautiful moments that await you in the coming new year.
