The exhibitions director always tells me how urban I am, and can't believe I grew up in the country. He says I have the kind of fashion daring found in New York or L.A.
L.A.? Scoff! New York? Fine. Still, I think our left coast city deserves a little credit.
Point #1:
Side note, Los Angeles is not urban. Sorry, but being a giant parking lot does not make you urban. Lets review. Paris = urban. New York City = urban. San Francisco = urban. L.A. = parking lot.
Point #2:
Were THE number one tourist destination. Fuck yeah! Unfortunately that means I cant step out my front door without someone in bermuda shorts and crocs asking me how to get to Golden Gate Bridge. As I speak, there are roughly thirty tourists walking past my building. Segway tours pass outside at all hours. And tourists from the flyover states point and gawk at our Smart Car. Well lookey that, they dont have those in Iowa! WERE a tourist attraction it seems. And I love it.
Anyway theres a point to all this. My point is were not large, but we win for originality. Our diversity and population density rivals New York City, but were not about numbers or competition. San Francisco is a way of life. A culture of subcultures with a lot of really pretty ideals taking bold steps to improve our world. And nothing is more fashionable than that.
