I'm one of those weirdos who mostly really liked high school. I remember having a circle of close friends who I could be my most authentic self around. I liked sitting on the grass at lunch having interesting conversations while a stick of incense would burn at the center of the circle, until a yard supervisor would walk by, and we'd cover the burning stick with a bottle so we wouldn't get in trouble.
We joked a lot and sometimes flirted or cuddled, but always so innocently. I'd half jokingly half seriously pull out my compact mirror to gaze at my crush who lunched a distance away, without him knowing I had eyes in the back of my head!
I'd drive through a lot of nature to get to my best friend's house, and spend time talking with his mom about anything and everything.
I also remember really enjoying dance classes, especially in college when I learned Capoeira and various African dances. My teacher was so inspiring and all of her students fell in love with her mind and spirit and style. I agreed with so much of her philosophy, and the things she felt were wrong with aspects of mainstream western culture.
I had so many good teachers, since always. Many many more good ones than bad ones. I was very lucky to have incredible teachers and professors as role models. I hope my personality absorbed some of their good qualities and character.
