A friend suggested that maybe her account was hacked? Because her crazy conspiracy theory was posted on her business page... And she never struck me as an unprofessional person. We never had any falling out and I never considered her a bad or crazy person, so I took a chance and let her know, in case she wasn't the one who posted it. I didn't want to rule out the possibility that I was the one making wild unscientific assumptions.
She responded late at night after I'd gone to sleep. Based on her response, I don't think her account was hacked. Now I have to find a nice way to respond to someone I care about who tragically believes that all doctors and scientists worldwide all agreed to fake a global pandemic because "They" want her not to work, for some unknown unspecified reason.
I will definitely not attempt to argue with her delusion, because it may actually be her brain's way of protecting her from a reality she can't mentally cope with. I'll try to say something supportive yet honest, if I can think of a good way to convey that my inbox is always open if she needs a friend to talk to, so there's no need to post crazy rants on her professional page, as clients may not be as forgiving...
