My friend inspired a movement among friends where we hold each other accountable for exercising daily. It's a system that works.
When peoples' tantrums were making me a sad lump, I asked my friend how he keeps himself motivated to exercise, because I noticed he was working out a lot, which is impressive because I know he struggles with depression.
I am so glad I asked!
He told me he and a friend started holding each other accountable for working out daily. He shared the encouraging texts they send, such as: "rode stationary bike 10 mins plus pushups" and the other replies something like "awesome bro! keep up the good work!" And they do this back and forth daily, and voila, depression lifted, plus bonus muscle tone, which boosts my friend's confidence. Win-win.
I LOVE their positive encouraging attitude, which benefits them both. So I said, I want in! I need a little extra push to do yoga 10 mins a day, so now he texts me when he exercises, which reminds me to do my yoga, and everyone gets daily positive reinforcement. It's a movement now!
I'm grateful he found something that works for him, and it inspired me to be healthier too. The daily positive feedback is really helpful. This is how we lift each other up!
I've stuck with our buddy system for almost a month already. My friend's idea was a great one. Highly recommend!
