I dreamed of a two-headed snake lunging at me. D: I was backed into a corner and had little time to react. It quickly snapped toward my face just as I woke up.
Last time I had a similar dream it marked the grand finale of a relationship. Maybe the two heads is because this time it's a gemini. :D
In my dreams snakes usually represent cold-blooded men, but before monotheism existed, snakes were related to goddess worship, before being re-written as representations of evil. (Thanks patriarchy.)
I wonder if my dreams will ever catch up to the reality of history, or if my inner associations will forever be marred by religions re-written to suit men.
Although, I'm still researching about the actual root of the snake in mythology. Maybe the snake itself was never necessarily feminine but represented something else within pre-patriarchal mythologies. Like, Minoan snake goddess statues hold snakes in each hand as if she's keeping them under her control... Maybe the answers to my questions are lost forever but I'm in the process of reading a book about it anyway and hoping to find some answers. To be continued...
