Today I saw a naked woman walking down the sidewalk. She was smiling, and the cops who pulled over to address her nudity were smiling too. They apparently knew the bus driver on the opposite side of me because the bus driver and cops both rolled down their windows to wave to each other and the cop used a megaphone to say something funny to them before driving to the naked lady. It was free amusing entertainment. Funny distractions make the world a little less dull. The whole scene kinda made my day.
Lunch was better than usual. Delicious pork belly tacos with avocados, homemade blue corn tortillas and salsa, and hibiscus sparkling water to wash it down.
Then I got to play the hero by sparing someone from potential eviction today by lending a small portion of rent while their paycheck clears.
I also got to pet my ex's cat who I hadn't seen in a long time. She remembered me. I told her I'm her real dad. I have been telling that joke for so long that it's probably not funny anymore but it still amuses me.
The weather today was nice enough to actually remove my sweater. And my neighbor said hello to me. Pandemic made my building a little less friendly when we pass each other in the halls but the mood of approaching spring is beginning to improve the vibe. Today felt refreshingly normal, like old times.
The sunlight is hitting the buildings in a certain way, more cheerfully, more spring-like. A tempting preview of the months to come.
