I remember needing to 5150 my mom once and the person on the phone asked if she was physically ill and I said yes -- her brain. And the woman said "But is she physically ill? So I repeated myself, "Yes, her brain." Do people really think brains are some non physical concept floating in the clouds? We have physical brains! Just because we know so little about mental illness, doesn't mean OUR BRAINS DON'T EXIST. Maybe her brain doesn't physically exist. :D
But I'm pretty sure if you can do physical surgery on a brain, that makes the brain a part of your physical body...
This broken healthcare system, and how terribly we have failed in helping our loved ones with mental illness... How can we when we don't even acknowledge the physical existence of their brains or even admit they're ill unless it's something we can SEE like a broken leg.
